Vegetables Go to School (VGtS) Annual Meeting and Phase II Planning

The meeting was organized by University of Freiburg (ALU) which is one of the research partners in the project from 20 – 22 January, 2016.  The moderation was conducted by Ms. Annelie Öberg from AVRDC – The World Vegetable Center, another research partner of the VGtS. The meeting was attended by 26 participants from 07 countries including donor representatives from the Swiss Development Cooperation (SDC).

The purpose of the meeting was to review the project year 2015 in terms of the goals achieved, problems encountered and planning of the potential phase II. The main aim of the meeting was to understand and agree upon the deliverables which has to be achieved for the next phase, keeping in view the country requirements, and clearly defined responsibilities with an integrated and holistic perspective.

During the meeting the partner countries reported excellent progress in the implementation of the school gardens along with WASH facilitation in their respective countries. Furthermore, as a concluding remark a set time line of deliverables was framed out by the research organizations and partner countries and it was noted that Phase II requires a new project proposal which is to be submitted by the end of April 2016 to SDC.
