Easy edamame

Edamame (vegetable soybean) are young green soybeans. The tasty seeds are rich in protein and other nutrients.  Try growing this fun-to-eat vegetable in your school garden.


1. Boil edamame in salted water to cover for about 5 minutes.

2. Drain, sprinkle with a little salt if you like, and serve as a snack or side vegetable. You can also briefly stir-fry the boiled pods in a little oil with chili, garlic or other spices.

1. Pop a pod into your mouth.

2. Pull the pod back out through your teeth to release and enjoy the nutty-tasting seeds.

3. Discard the pod in the school garden compost heap.

4. Repeat!
